Can someone explain japanese spoons to me? Most Asian things work exceptionally well, but the spoons don't make as much sense to me. How does one, use one?

I hold it perpendicular to my face, then tip it in. I don't know if that's proper, but that's the best way I've found to use those.

Yes, that.

That is a spoon used for Chinese food, such as for scooping up Chinese clear soup with an egg mixed in. You use it the same as any silver spoon, no difference.

A regular spoon in Japan is exactly the same as Western stainless steel/silver spoons, and used when eating a western originated food, like Curry & Rice, or Consomme soup.

I bought a set of these and little soup bowls at a thrift store for 1€. I love eating egg drop soup and miso soup with them. Just use them how you feel comfortable with using regular flatware spoons.

They are excellent for scooping things up with broth, like when you're eating ramen and soups. If you take a regular sized spoon, you won't be able to scoop much content of the soup as compared to using the asian spoon. There are lots of chunk sized pieces in asian soups as compared to western style soups that are finely blended.

I don't understand what the problem is. Just use them like normal spoons; they're shaped very similarly.
