Today, I got to talk to my Japanese friend's parents for the first time (and she talked to them for the first time since July.) She called them today because our cell phone provider is permitting free calling and texting to Japan now that they have had such disasters, so we called this evening (it was about 9 AM Japan time.) It made me incredibly happy, which is why I randomly felt like posting. :D
She's an exchange student, so she lives with us; sometimes, I never really realize that her parents are living somewhere halfway across the globe, so it was really cool to hear them talk. I told them 'good morning' in Japanese (おはよございます)and I liked listening to my friend have a conversation with them. :D They don't know English, but I understood some and they are really sweet people. :D

Yeah, I just felt like posting that.

Japanese people make good friends. My closest friend in elementary school and part of junior high was a girl who was half Japanese, half American. I fell in love with her and obsessed over her for about 8 years, even after we had a falling-out and stopped being on speaking terms (long story).

I think so too. I can't wait to go to Japan the summer after next and meet her family/friends.

Asian people in general seem to make good friends; I tend to click easy with them :)

Perhaps because parents in many cultures of Asia are much more strict, thus they generally raise their kids to be intelligent and having manners, rather than your average American douchebag kid. :P

The asians that I am friends with are all very intellectual, and talk endlessly about Science, Philosophy, and in general, the good stuff. I have a lot of bad things to say about the american nation (It invades other countries with OCD levels of compulsion, it thinks its the freest, fairest society in the world, it thinks it is richer than it is...), but going by the exchange students from California staying here in Galway, American's themselves aren't that bad, they are pretty decent in general :)
