thinking about something nice for our anniversary
she's wanting to take out out to the new steak house that's opened up in our area.
she's watching her weight and the budget.
I want to go to the steak house and have a nice rib eye with mushrooms, a baked russet and some A1 on the side. She'll probably have something light. It'll probably run is $50. I think she wants to go to the steak house because I want to go to the steak house. Follow?
Our anniversary happens to be on Thursday, the day of her TOPS meeting.
I was thinking that maybe we could skip the steakhouse altogether and to to the TOPS meeting for her, spend far less money and it's something she'd want to do.
Just that every year, we do something that, it seems, I wanna do like go to some restaurant that serves really good steak. I think it would be nice to do something she'd like to do once in a while.

If you have a grill, and the weather is OK, see about grilling a couple of steaks.
For the mushrooms topping try this.
You're going to need:
1 pint mushrooms, sliced as thinly as possible.
1 pint, or .05L bottle of Cabernet Sauvigon red wine (The little bottles of wine usually are sold as four packs)
1 tsp. real butter.
Slice a pint mushrooms as thinly as possible. Heat a fryin pan and add a little oil. swirl the oil around in the fryin pan until it is hot almost to the point of smoking. Dump the oil in trash so the pan just has a think film of oil on the bottom and add the mushrooms. Stir them occasionally until they are cooked, and most of the moisture has evaporated from them. Add the wine, and stir occasionally until the wine has reduced down to a sludgy consistancy, and then add the butter and stir again.
The butter should melt and the wine sludge and mushrooms should have a glossy appearance. Top your grilled steak with this, it's called a reduction sauce because you have evaporated most of the water (not to mention all of the alcohol) out of the sauce via cooking.
