…that I felt couldn't easily be dealt with using my normal account, what would be the best way of going about asking it?

(I've got no problem asking it but people I know IRL might and my account here is pseudonymous and easily traceable.)

If you do not have any problem asking it, why are you worried about other people finding it?
Not meaning to be a smartass; I'm just curious.

Because they could consider it libellous. If I was to ask it anonymously (without details) it would be easier all around.

Most forums discourage sockpuppet accounts and can ban them.

Here's an idea: PM a mod with it, and ask them to post it for you without revealing who it is from.

Of course, you'd then have to worry about people noticing a mod posting something like this immediately after I suggested it. But it wouldn't be trivially Googleable.

My question goes something like this:

I suspect my local healthcare professional is attempting to blackmail me. Am I paranoid or not?

Ah, okay. I understand now, but I unfortunately don't have any suggestions.
Though... ZeroGravitas does have a nice idea. If you don't have a problem with anyone on WP knowing it is you asking it, you can just have a mod post that an "anonymous user" asked this question. Whoever sees this thread most likely isn't someone you know in real life, so they would know that it was you asking the question, yet it wouldn't really be a problem to you (I gather that going on what you said above.)

It depends on what your justifications are. I understand that posting those under your account would probably be what you are wanting to avoid, in which case you can probably PM a mod.

Just do it with a sockpuppet without anybody noticing.

First of all, cut the guy some slack. Second of all, I don't think you're being paranoid. WP should be a safe place where people can say whatever is on their minds.

Don't mention names, and there wouldn't be anything wrong. Even if you mention names, it's a legitimate question.

It's specific and, as I say, my account could be easily traced back to me. There is a thin veneer of anonymity.

^^^ Agreed. Keep names and places out of it and you should be fine on the libel account.

That's some serious issue too. I can understand the feeling of paranoia.

What about the Members Only forum? Or would you expect them to actually make an account here?
