1. Do any of you like this song?

2. Name a misconception that has been targeted towards you. I'm not sure if this one counts, but I'll name it.

This girl doesn't know I have autism and is VERY judgmental. I came up the elevator once and she asked me why I'm always "outside the group" and she tells me "(My name), why don't you sit with someone new once, why don't you join someone?" and I didn't know how to respond to that and she looked at me funny. Errr...

1. I like that song. Thanks for sharing. :)

2. One time a repairman came over to fix our computer. He asked me what I like to do a the computer so I told him I go on a forum for people with autism. He said, "Oh, you seem pretty normal to me." A few minutes later, the subject of math came up and I said I wasn't very good at it. He said "I thought autistic people were supposed to be good at math." I wanted to facepalm.

Another time I went on a forum for people who like to daydream and I said I had Asperger's Syndrome. A lady said "Wow! I'm so impressed by how articulate you are when you type! Most people with Asperger's Syndrome I work with can't speak or write at all!" I felt so patronized that I never went back to that forum again.

It's amazing how many people are still ignorant about autistic spectrum disorders even with all the new information that's come out in the last couple of decades...

3. Yesterday, I was on WrongPlanet on my friend's computer and Autism came up in our conversation and said something along the lines of "I'm high functioning" and she said "Yeah, I can tell" because she didn't originally suspect that I had HFA.

1. No.

2. I never really think of "misconceptions" being "targeted towards" people, so I don't know what to say.
