Does anyone else relate food to the T.V programmes or movies they are watching?

Example: When watching sci-fi, I like to eat 'comfort foods' like pizza etc. For me, I see a strong relation between the two.

The food has to relate in some way to whatever is being watched, so if that type of food appears in whatever I am watching, it is the perfect thing to eat.

It doesn't surprise me that this happens, different sense experiences get entangled and wind up being memorised together. They say that smells are the strongest memory joggers.

Memory is weird, like when someone goes through something traumatic or very emotionally taxing, they often remember very detailed things about the scene, like smells, the textures of fabrics, what was on the TV etc. etc.

I know this isn't exactly what you mean.. but I relate eating pretzels to the game "Space station Silicon valey" because when I played that I used to eat pretzels.

That is pretty much what I mean too, not only sensory relations, but anything that makes you think of the food / programme / game / movie.

Many times it's just for nostalgic value, other times it's just because it feels right. It's hard to explain it all really.

I associate pomegranates with Monty Python and mozzarella sticks with Rurouni Kenshin because I used to eat those while watching the respective programs.

Everytime I eat cheese puffs it reminds me of sitting with my dad on a Saturday afternoon watching cheesy sci-fi and horror films from the 70's and 80's. Good times!

Pizza from Pernora's pizza reminds me of watching slasher films with my buddies when I was 14.

McDonalds chocolate milk shakes remind me of Thundarr the Barbarian and Johnny Quest cartoons that I use to watch from the early 80's.
