Yes I know there is likely no such thing but where my brain seems to go super-fast something like the computer can't keep up, many of the words come out mis-spelt and it does happen also in my normal handwriting but I don't know if I'm dyslexic because I've never been tested.

One of the most common words that arrive (and my favourite) is webiste which kind of looks German doesn't it?

Anyway my rationale for this topic is to ask who has this similar problem and also if there are any pet word creations that emerge?

Knowing that if you write a paragraph you have to spend ages editing the errata is frustrating; luckily the mistakes are underlined in red... thank heavens for that!

I have that problem myself to many times especially when I type at about 65 words per min.
So as a dyslexic myself, I feel its an issues of speed vs spelling.

I type as a talk to myself in my head, my writing is more a steam of consciousness.
My own typos & mistakes of the English language over the years have started to develop into a language of its own creation.

Exactly right! We should each end up with our own personal lexicon!

I do this too. On my desktop, which has a slightly modified Dvorak layout, I type "jsut" for "just" and "hte" for "the" almost every single time. I've done this for over a year, and still do it to this day, no matter how hard I try to stop. :|

I guess I could switch the u and s keys, and the h and t keys, but then it would be even more modified, and I don't want to change it much more, and I'm too lazy to edit the layout, and pry the keys off my keyboard. :P

I hear great things about Dvorak layouts, faster typing & less risk of RSI. I was thinking of changing over to one the layouts but a good deal of my computer use is on other people's boxes plus theres a few hic ups with it when using vim & emcas. So am sticking with Qwerty for the time being.

Yeah, I can type a bit faster with it. But it creates a lot of problems with shortcuts for different programs. Some are broken (like cut and paste on Firefox), some are in the same location as QWERTY, but the Dvorak letter (like Microsoft Word I think), while other programs remap them (like Acrobat Reader, where if you press CTRL + F it actually opens the search bar, instead of something else), so it's kind of annoying to remember which programs do what. But I'm a sucker for anything minority, so I prefer it since it's not mainstream. ;)

I have QWERTY on my laptop though, since I'm afraid to take the keys off and I must touch-type, but after a couple months I could switch between them with no problem at all. It can take awhile to learn a new layout though, so be prepared for that.

And the only Dvorak I have heard of is the composer!

What I do is a little different but frustrating because it's something spell-check won't pick up on. I know the difference between there and their and they're but I find myself typing the wrong one without thinking. I don't even notice it until I review before submitting. The same goes for other words like this. It's weird because I'm thinking the correct word as I type. It's like my fingers have a mind of their own.

Use an external keyboard with your laptop, I do to save getting RSI.

I like this because I have seen this common error a lot so that most people would assume it's just plain ignorance I guess yet many of us will have a special reason for mistakes.

I wish I knew why I did it though, because I know I'm thinking the correct word.

Lace-Bane hates this about his typing too >_<. Lace-Bane has recently gotten much faster at typing, but added that he plays guitar, his fingers move very fluently making him possibly hit multiple keys close enough to at once that they jumble the letters instead as if he was careful to tap each one before laying down the next letter. So he frequently types things like becuase instead of "because" or teh, hte, or eht instead of "the" and so on for pretty much any word making him have to edit paragraphs for some time unless he just slows down to type in the first place :|. It seems to happen to a word at least once or twice per sentence >_<

Typing in Adobe Illustrator is a paranoid nightmare for Lace-Bane since there's no spell check :(
