What kind of dog do you own and how many ?

Now I don't own a dog but the next that I want to get is a Bernese Mountain Dog or a big dog.

When I lived with my family we owned a dog who look like a Labrador, after we got a Lhasa Apso and the last one was a mix between a Royal Caniche and a Labrador.

Yesterday at my job, a customer with walk disabilities was with a Labrador to help him walk, and he wasn't smart with that dog, instead to speak to the dog, he was almost yelling at him, he was brutal and with us he was friendly and happy. He probably don't like dog and just need it to walk.

I got 2 other customers who are blind and they are friendly with their dogs.

Bye !

I have one dog, a Springer Spaniel, black lab mix. Her name is Heidi and she's 13 years old. I adore her. :D

I have a rat terrier named Josie. Her feet smell like popcorn, and she has a very playful personality. She is almost 4 years old.

EveningRoze: Aren't short-legged JRTs fun? I've got one too, only mine is thirteen and smells strongly of pond scum. Sweet old fellow, really.

I also have a Border Terrier/Pembroke Welsh Corgi cross whom I am very fond of, even if he does nip people. When I move out, I would like to eventually get a JR of my own or a Dobie.

Atxa: What is a 'Royal Caniche?' My special interest of fifteen years happens to be dogs, and I've gotta say I've never heard of a 'Royal Caniche' in my life--and I know about 350 dog breeds well, and I have run across the names and purposes of 500 more in my extensive studies. I count it a good day when I learn about a new dog breed, these days.

I don't currently own dogs. But it is worth mentioning the ones I have owned during my life.

Half Dotson/Half Cocker-Spanial (he could run faster than a greyhound, that one.)

Beagle (had 13 puppies, one died. Kept two after the others were given away. Had them for a few years and then they were stolen by hunters.)

I have owned two miniature-collies (shelties), one of which got hit by a truck, and the other ran away because we moved to the city and he got bored.

We have a labrador retriever named Emma. She's maybe two. I like her alot of course although is a bit obsessive about getting up in your face and isn't too bright. We used to have two dogs: A german shepard named Carey and an old minature american eskimo spitz named Sheba. I loved Carey. She was smart and loyal, and and loving but also looked after herself. She just liked to lay along by your side alot (Emma needs to be doing this all the time). Sheba was an old dog. She lived to be about 18 or something. She and Carey were a wonderful pair. Unfortunately Carey got this terrible rare disease when she was only five and died after only a month of us trying to figure out what as going on. Sheba lasted about another six months (five months longer then the vet gave her, a strong five months too).

11 years ago I adopted two puppies (sisters) from caniane rescue. They are half doberman and half coonhound. Sadly my dog, Charity died last month, my son's dog Angel really misses her. Both were very sweet natured dogs but very opposite in behavior. My Charity did not calm down untill she reached 7 years old. Angel on the other hand has always been an old soul. Very calm and mellow before she reached 2 years old.

We have a little cream colored (dachsund/cocker spaniel?) creature that looks like the luck dragon in Never Ending Story. She's about ten years old, but she still looks like a puppy.
One of our cats acts like a dog sometimes, but I guess that doesn't count.

We have a Miniature Fox Terrier breeder's cast off. His name is Snuggles (always let your 4 year old name you pets!). With hunting dogs, often it's the runt that is discarded, but this little guy has the opposite problem. The reason he's not a desirable specimen is that he's too husky and doesn't have the properly deformed super short legs. He's actually quite a strong 23Lb bundle of over wound spring loaded muscle. Pound for pound I've never seen a stronger dog or known a more faithful and loving friend.

Snuggles is really my first small dog. I've always had Shepherds, Huskies or Labs, before and they were fairly smart. But this little guy is brilliant, well behaved, responsive, energetic and takes commands flawlessly. He is almost 2 years old and he's actually learned very good manners, already. I'd have to say he's the best dog I've ever had. It's hard to imagine, but the practice of euthanasia for convenience sake almost prevented me from meeting my best friend.

He has a bit, but then he's always been really calm for a JRT. I definitely plan to adopt one of my own when I graduate from college! I can't imagine why no one official seems to love the shorties as much as the long-legs; I think they're much cuter and more fun.

I cant have dogs where I rent (have two wonderful cats and two bunnies) but I have always wanted a dog...love the look of husky/chow mix...anything that looks like a big teddybear...but I dont like dog smells or yappy or loud barking...I might get used to it but have some trepidation since it is a long term commitment...
