I need to go somewhere and see someplace new. I live near Philadelphia. What are some good round-trip tickets I could book with this amount? Where would you recommend? Canada? Somewhere else in U.S.? Mexico? I have no idea but I am going crazy here.

Call travel agents.

Someone told me that about 5 years ago they got a ticket to Ireland (round trip) from the west coast for $400.

You'd be surprised how far that money can go. My personal suggestions. Not Michigan.

Ireland! Now there's am idea! I just looked up tickets and they are indeed cjheaper than I could have imagined!

What's wrong with Michigan? It sounds like a magical land from everything I've heard!

Magical in the puff the magic dragon sense.

Travel agents usually can get you pretty good deals it seems, compared to your normal fares - others have their opinions on this but generally it is what I have found to be true. (but never confirmed). They cut the cost to like 75% of the original price... somehow. Last July we took 2 planes to get out of the states, and two in Spain. Total cost was about 1200 rounds trip (each). Compared to the 1600-2100 we where coming up with on our own.

My sister loves Italy and its rich architacture....trips to europe are cheap sometimes.
She also says that Germany is really nice
