If you could pick any country you would want to be born in, what would it be and why?

Please no posts about how that's never going to happen. This is just for fun.

I quite like being born in England. I could of been born in France that would have been a travesty, their humour absolutely sucks.

Scotland, probably. No tangible reason.

England. I love the culture and scenery and I wish I could have an English accent.

Brazil. I'd be a member of one of those tribes in the Amazon rainforest that have never been contacted by the developed world. Bliss, despite the presumably Palaeolithic rate of life expectancy. I'll take that over this misery any day. Yes, nostalgie de la boue, whatever.

Any country where it's sunny all year long.

Unless christian missionaries found you. Or some corrupt corporation wanted your lands. Also, most native americans here have access to internet and cable. And keep in mind that your territory is established by the government.

I would like to be born in Norway: highest HDI, lowest homicide rate, high standard of living, scenery porn, norse mythology... And SNOW!! :P

Perhaps Denmark. Other than that I'm quite happy living in the UK - apart from the illiberalism of the place.

The UK has the most centralised health care system in Europe - from my own experience, it's hit and miss. Great when it works but very often it doesn't. The staff are very variable - to extremely caring and good at their job, to decent, to mediocre, to arrogant to being the sort of people you wouldn't let near someone's pet dog, let alone vulnerable patients.

Challenge their bad behaviour though and you're treated like a heretic.

The main point is that there is NO plurality or 'opt-out' in the NHS - people who are well-off can pay for expensive private care, but you're paying twice if you do that. Private care is expensive but good if you can avail yourself of it.

Health care in Continental Europe is often considered superior and is less centralised but at least partially or wholly state funded. There is more of a choice.
