From a scientific (not religious) point of view what do you think happens to us the moment we die??????

Death is something i do think about a lot and the more deeply i think about the subject the more i freak myself out thinking about where i will go after my body and mind shut down :(

From a scientific view? You lose consciousness permanently and your body decomposes.

So would you lose concioussness forever or would you be reborn as somebody else?

If you're looking at this from a scientific point of view, nothing happens aside from permanent loss of consciousness and body decomposition. There's no evidence whatsoever for anything else. Reincarnation moves the discussion into the realm of religion.

I know 'Ghosts' might be a religous debate but there has been evidence that they exist.

Do you think when we there is a chance come back as 'ghosts'?

The evidence for ghosts is hilariously flimsy and almost always easily explainable or disproven. There's plenty of stuff in the world that's admittedly not easily explainable, but "it's a ghost" is just as poor an explanation as "God did it."

That is awful though to think death is just like a dreamless sleep FOREVER with no waking up to anything.

it makes me very upset

There isn't much of a scientific view that is satisfactory. Energy cannot be destroyed, only converted. However, one could say the energy is used for decomposition and fertilization of the ground surrounding the body (without those horrid boxes people get stuck in, of course... :? )

Where science fails, people use religion to fill in the blanks.

Yes, it can be upsetting. Lots of people turn to religion because the observable truth is upsetting. You're free to make your own decision.

True in the sense that science fails to tell us with absolute certainty what happens, but it's successful in giving us better and more logical answers than religion.

To be honest i can't really handle the scientific truth becuase i was hoping since life sucks so much living as someone with AS that death would be something to look forward too.

Obviously not.

YOU DON'T think that is a absolute defeninitive truth that death is like an endless/dreamless sleep though?

I'm not sure what's so bad about death.

Nobody, not a scientist or a religious believer, can say that they know with absolute certainty what happens when you die. Anyone who makes such a claim is full of s**t. It's just that the observable evidence is strongly in favor of what science says, and not in favor of religion in any way at all.

As for an endless, dreamless sleep, I suppose you could describe it that way. Unpleasant as it may seem for some people, your dreams and every sense you have of reality is just a bunch of spark plugs firing in your brain. When those shut down and decay and turn into dust, you feel and think and sense nothing, from then until the end of time.

But that's the scientific view. Plenty of religions are happy to give you other answers.

What happens when we die is very simple: Your heart stops beating, and a short time later your vision goes dark and that's it. No being reborn, no ghosts, fluffy clouds, or fires of hell. There's just nothing. It's unfortunate, but I have used that understanding to try and live my life to the fullest every day. This is not a dress rehearsal. You only get one shot. Make it count.

I mean you'll never be alive or aware of anything ever again. I'm not claiming to know when "time" will end.

But again jory you can't say that for certain though?

Who knows in our lifetime science might find a way ot greatly increase life expectancy etc.....
