I nearly thought for a split second that you was the spammer that was sending this until I read what was at the bottom.

Even I don't appeal attractive to these spammers. ;)

If you post the spammer's username on WP, the moderators will ban her/him/it.

Lol I thought you were the spammer, too.

I think these messages are better fit in the subforum at the bottom that is there specifically for problems with the site/spammers/etc. (You can contact mods more directly there.)

Out of curiousity, how does the spam progress into a scam?

As far as I'm aware it can lead in several different directions. The least of which is they will spam your email address (if you contact them) with links to porn sites, fake medicine sites etc. The more sinister ones can lure you into thinking you are forming an online relationship with someone. They will send you fake photos (i.e. photos of models etc) claiming it is them. Sooner or later when you are well hooked they will suffer some sort of personal crisis and ask you for money to help them out, or money to travel to visit you etc. Some people have been conned out of many thousands of pounds by these scammers.

Don't get mixed up with then or reply to them, even to "have a little fun"; they are often part of organised international crime gangs / drugs / prostitution etc and you don't want to mess with them. The last thing you want are some heavies kicking your door in.

I don't think I'd ever contact someone from here on my email without pm-ing them at least a few times.

Also, those few times would have to show that we have potential to be good friends.

Just curious, what other sites has she been to? (Maybe I should warn some other sites, hmmmmm)

Anyways, that just seems seriously creepy and like a spam
-I saw your profile....but why were you stalking me (ok, jk, some people do that), but if they did...wouldn't they say something they liked or related to on it?

-I want to send you a picture...WHY? I don't even know you scary lady, why do I want to know what you look like, this is not a site for dating where the introductions are based upon superficial looks and stuff

-Finally, it says not to link from email whenever you send a PM, so that is a dead giveaway.

They send the same PM to lots of people on lots of different sites, picking random female member names for themselves. There is no woman looking for a relationship full stop. It is all a scam. They are a damn nuisance. The mods keep banning them from WP when someone reports them via the Moderator Attention thread in the WrongPlanet.net discussion forum, but they are usually back again a few days later with a new name.

One of the key phrases they use is "I saw your profile". If you see that it should make alarm bells ring.

If anyone gets such PMs please report them as mentioned above, quoting their PM and most importantly their WP username so we can ban them as soon as possible before someone here gets suckered into replying to them! Most people know instinctively they are a scam, but not everyone does.

Not PM spammers. They don't have autism / aspergers. They are con men who join WP with the sole intention of stealing your money one way or another and they never post in any of the forums. The sooner they get banned before someone gets suckered the better.
