Does anyone else have unexpected mutual friends on facebook? I have it all the time with people in my university. What I mean is this...so you have a friend who goes to university with you. You know him through a certain school club. You notice that he has a few mutual friends with you. Some of them are "expected" since they, too, also go to the same school club. However, you notice one or two of the mutual friends are friends who are NOT from the school club but perhaps from your classes or from your floor (university residence).

I realize that this happens to me ALL THE TIME with people in my university. I guess it just shows how small a university community actually is and how interconnected everyone is. I mean, for a lot of people, you see them once, know their name, and you add them. They don't even need to be your close friends. This also happens to a certain extent in my nearby region (so for me Southern Ontario).

Its also fun to search for common names like "Sarah" or "Michael". What happens is a bunch of strangers with a few mutual friends each appears. I notice that its also quite common for the mutual friends OF THE SAME PERSON to be in unrelated areas of my life.
