What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was 4 or 5, I wanted to be a teacher. When I got a little older, I wanted to be a doctor. Then I wanted to be a writer. Then a teacher again.

Now, at 16............I have no idea.

What about you?

I wanted to be an engineer (train driver) from the time I was 5. I gave that up later (about 10), but now I'm seriously considering it again if I don't survive in the military.

I'm currently striving for Naval Aviator (become a CO through ROTC). My other idea's for a serviceman, if I fail at that, include:

Aircraft Mechanic
Training/Drill Instructor
Corpsman

And if I don't enjoy the military, I'm looking into:

Commercial Pilot
Screen Writer
Any railroading job.

I'd also love to be a constitutional lawyer or a congressman, but there's no way as an aspie I'd live with that, much less appeal to anyone.

At various points in my childhood and teen years, I wanted to be a:

Sled dog racer (musher)
Veterinarian
Manga artist
Nun
Psychologist

As an adult, I would be content to just work a simple job at a DVD store like Hasting's, or maybe a clothing/accessory store like Hot Topic or Claire's.

I wanted to be Eddie Van Halen.

Once I realized that that job was taken, I thought I would like to be a paleontologist or an archeologist.

I'd still love to be a forensic pathologist or a criminal investigator. I'm very inquisitive and detail oriented and I have a pretty analytical way of looking at things, but I also have a very weak stomach, so yeah...I'm just a housewife.

For a brief time during the second grade, I wanted to be an astronaut. Aside from that, I wanted to be a teacher and, once I reached junior high, I wanted to be an actor. Around the time I started high school, I wanted to be a broadcast journalist. Around the beginning of college, I flirted with the idea of being an editor. Now, I don't even know what I want to be.

My first career aspiration was to be a veternarian, but then I realized I had to give animals shots and do surgery and put them down....which I could not do

Then I wanted to be a animal researcher or animal biologist
Then I wanted to be nat Geo photographer
then I became an artist and poet for the last 20 years....but I still wanna hang out with a bunch of animal researchers I guess like a roadie for geeks.

Since as long as I can remember I've always wanted to be a biologist, not a vet like everyone suggested to me at the time, but someone who studied the ecology of every living thing that stuck my fancy.

My mom told me I wasn't smart enough to become a scientist because my grades weren't perfect like my very NT sisters' were.
8) Thankfully she was wrong... as I am now an entomologist.

I thought about being a signer or a comedian. I never really had a serious idea of what I wanted to do thou & I still don't. I always just kinda drifted through life

In 8th and 9th grade (I think) I wanted to be a language teacher. In 10th I wanted to be a translator, and now I have absolutely no idea. Before 8th grade it never even crossed my mind.

To answer your question. PRINCESS. Haha, just kidding. I don't really remember knowing what I wanted to be when I was little. But I've thought about law before. Like being a prosecutor.

Um, obviously?

Quote:
career: an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities of progress

Thread isn't specifically about "careers", anyways.

But back to the point.
