In lucid dreaming, how do you get new experiences? Is it your brain's calculations, and how realistic are they?

In the lucid dreams I have, the details present themselves more vividly than in real life. For example colours seem more vibrant and intense. The brain does a fantastic job of filling in as much detail as is needed to make everything look real. You can pick up an object and look at it and all the detail is there. The one thing the sleeping brain does bad is continuity. So for example if there is a tall building to your right and you look away from it, then look back again it may have been replaced by something else like a tree!

It is fascinating holding conversations with people that you know, but being simultaneously aware that everything they say is being generated by your own sleeping brain. I really enjoy lucid dreams. You can direct them to a certain extent but I've found that you have to be careful though, if I try to change the circumstances of the dream too much then brain can't handle the "simulation" any more and I wake up.

You just decide what you want to experience.
Good luck!
