Hypnagogia is the transitional state between wakefulness and sleep.
Hypnagogic imagery is often auditory or has an auditory component. Like the visuals, hypnagogic sounds vary in intensity from faint impressions to loud noises, such as crashes and bangs (exploding head syndrome). People may imagine their own name called or a doorbell ringing. Snatches of imagined speech are common. While typically nonsensical and fragmented, these speech events can occasionally strike the individual as apt comments on – or summations of – their thoughts at the time. They often contain word play, neologisms and made-up names. Hypnagogic speech may manifest as the subject’s own ‘inner voice’, or as the voices of others: familiar people or strangers. More rarely, poetry or music is heard. (from Wikipedia.)
This state is normal. It happens to me when am tired and before falling asleep (sometimes while browsing WP :P ).
Does it happen to you too? Do you remember anything? Any sentence or neologism?

Edit: I wanted to edit the poll, but I can't. Or can I? How to do it?

That happens to me, a lot. I hear some voice calling my name, or telling me something scary.

I rarely hear speech, but I voted "often" anyway, because I always hear the allegedly rare music.

It sucks because usually it's really amazing stuff, but there's no way for me to remember it in the morning =(

This has happened to me before. At first I was worried that I was developing schizophrenia, but it only happened at night when I was really tired. It sounded like a group of people talking to each other. The majority of the time they spoke nonsense, and I'd always forget what they said by the time I woke the next day.

This happens to me often; but I take it as a good thing because it helps me transition to sleep faster.

i don't know if it was strictly hypnagogic or some kind of telepathic communication from beyond, but when my father died, soon afterwards i was awoken from a dead sleep with him [more precisely his disincarnate spirit] "shouting" my name. my late mother also was awakened by the same phenomenon at the same time. and when she [my mother] passed on, i was again awakened from a deep sleep with the "sound" of her shouting my name.

Oh, man... 8O
The fist time I remember I "heard" my dad saying something I thought it was telepathic but later realised that in my case it wasn't. I usually "hear" things that doesn't make any sense and I don't remember my name being called.
I also thought it might be schizophrenia but now am sure it wasn't.
My latest hypnagogic sentence was: "If I've had two..."

I don't know if it's hypnagogic, but one day I was sleeping in the SKM and suddenly I wake up and run, because MY HOME PHONE'S RINGING! Ya, home phone in public transport

This word sounds like demagogic!

I had this last night, a tremendously loud clang in my head as I was falling asleep. I knew what it was because it's happened a few times, and this thread.

These are the things that the voice tells me, on different occasions:

"You'll never make it, in today's world!"

"You are going to die!"

This is really scary. Does it happen when you are between wakefulness and sleep or also on other occasions?

One day I was falling asleep in the school. Teacher was speaking about next boring poem which she projected on the wall. I've heard a question Which types of legume plants do you know? So I raised my hand to say Peas, bean and soya!
Luckily she asked sb else. Because real question was sth like Tell me sth about feelings in this poem

Your family wouldn't happen to be Catholic, would they?

Every time I hear this story, it's from a family who are devout Catholics. It's weird.

Happens to me a lot. Mostly I just hear church bells. I know they're not there, because the bells stop chiming for the day at 8PM.
