My girlfriend has autoimmune problems which cause her a lot of pain. It's often hard to know how to react, especially as we live a long way apart. Whatever I say has to fit into very short instant messages. And when she feels exhausted and in pain she is either silent or snaps at me.

So I looked for an online forum to give me advice. But the only ones I can find are very quiet - one or two posts a week if you're lucky. I suppose that makes sense for a board full of people with chronic fatigue. Where can I go for guidance?

I'm crazy about this girl, but it's so easy to say the wrong thing and just annoy her. She doesn't want enthusiasm (she lost that years ago), and I don't have the money to offer anything exciting). After I've said "that must be hard for you" a hundred times I run out of ideas. Half the time she just wants to be left alone I think - or maybe she doesn't? I have no idea. Being aspie makes it ten times harder to read between the lines. Where can I go for help?
