I used to suffer from it. I started a thread about it in the General Discussion Forum.
http://www.wrongplanet.net/asperger.html?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=16621

In a nutshell, it would always take me at least two hours to fall asleep, unless I went to bed really late because of New Year or another reason. And if I ever did fall asleep faster than that, it was out of pure boredom, rather than out of tiredness. What made it worse, is that my room shared a wall with my parents' bedroom and had a connecting door (don't ask). As a result, I had no choice but to lie in bed bored out of my mind. Getting up for any reason was strictly forbidden.

It takes a long time for me to fall to sleep most of the time.

My youngest son has sleeping problems. He was not sleeping for long, last to sleep, up in the middle of the night, first up in the AM. The doctors started him on, CLONIDINE 0.1MG, it was not my first option, but it works. It slows him down and gets him to relax enough to get at least 6 hours of uninterupted sleep nightly. I usually only give it to him when school is in.
