I like snakes. They are low maintenance. Feeding time is always exciting. And they don't love you back. So you can love them without worrying about neglecting them emotionally. I recently had a duckling, and I had to give it away. I didn't tell anyone this, but it was eating me up inside because I couldn't give it enough attention. I cried when I gave it up but I know I had to so it could be with other beings all the time.

Well at least you put it's needs above your own. Very noble.

I've only had one pet in my life: a gerbil.

And while I don't like being woken up with one being put on my face. :x

They aren't horrible pets otherwise.

Then again, my brother was the one who took care of them, so, I really don't have the experience.

My favorite pets were the ones that were kept in a cage: birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish, and turtles. But I always felt bad for keeping them locked up in such a small area. :(

My favourite pet would be a domesticated rat, because they look adorable with their big ears. :O)

Cats. They're low maintainance, don't drool, don't bark and are very loving.

I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.

Dogs are my favorite pets. They can definitely be a huge pain sometimes but the affection and loyalty they provide are unmatched. It's nice to come home from a long day to have a furry creature come trotting up to you wagging its tail excited to see you. It's also nice that you can be a little rougher with them whereas with smaller pets you have to be gentle. It's more rewarding, in my opinion, to pat a dog firmly on the rump than to pet a tiny creature with one finger.

I grew up with cats but i finally got to know an awesome dog and now i love dogs.

My mum had a dog when i first moved back to my hometown and for a while i'd push him away the way i'd always done with dogs. Then my motorbike got stolen and i wanted to go to a few nearby places i thought it'd get dumped. I offered to take the dog as a way of making the walk more useful. My mum didn't want to let me because he was big and she worried about me controlling him. She gave in :)

I had fun, the dog was really intelligent, well trained and had a really placid temperament but protective at the same time ( much like me). When i shouted he'd come, when he was on the lead he'd just trot besides me. He had this thing he'd been trained to do that was really handy, no matter what he would never let me get out of eyesight. If he was watching some other dog all i'd have to do is walk the other way and he'd follow me. He was a little stubborn at times, you could tell he wanted to go to the other dog, but it would always work.

That was about 8 years ago and since then he's gotten old and died. I did manage to get about 6 years of walking him though and because of that i'm a firm dog fan. I've got lots of good memories of 2 hour walks, taking him out in the rain and coming back filthy, walking as far we could in a certain direction and then trudging back exhausted. I'd just stick my ipod on and off we'd go.

He was a Rhodesian ridgeback/rottweiler with the colours of a rottweiler. He was always up for messing around :)

I've had cats, dogs, birds and a turtle. I can't choose a fav among them. After my first caged bird died I felt so bad that it spent most of its time in the cage apart from when I let it out so we just had a bird-table in the back yard at home. I always liked birds but I also love my dog pets! ah I just can't choose.

Out of having fish, guinea pigs and cats, I'll say cats are my favourite kind of pet, and my favourite animal in general :)

Y'know.......I've never thought about things that way 8O.

Anyway I like cats and dogs. I think I like birds a lot too. I'd like to own a hand reared ringneck or something one day.

My favorite is dogs. They're tons of fun, and it's nice to have them sit on your lap and not hate you. 8)

I've had caged pets in the past, but never will again. I always neglected them, and I'd much rather have a pet that I can hold and let run around the house.
