Do you think Richie is on the spectrum? Not in real life, but just his character? I have all the DVDs of Bottom, and there is a lot of strange behaviour from Richie which doesn't coincide with the mainstream, and he doesn't seem to know how to talk to women and he's even mentioned that he doesn't have any friends and that he's a lonely man in one of the episodes, and Eddie's all like, ''I'm not surprised!'' That's what I had people saying to me before when I said how lonely I am.

In the episode ''Accident'', Richie shows a lot of odd, unsociable behaviour, and Eddie's mates who come round think he's weird (well I can see by their body language that they're thinking how weird he is).

I've watched Bottom a lot but I've never really identified Richie as an aspie. He is weird but not not necessarily weird in the same way that aspies are. I think he would more likely be ADHD. I get the impression most of his strange behaviour and social faux pas are due to impulsiveness and not stopping to think about what he's doing than actually lacking the theory of mind to understand what is appropriate behaviour.

No, he's just meant to be a creepy, irritating pervert of a character. Not an Aspie.

Yup. I don't think he's an aspie, or has adhd. He's just written to be an unpleasant, if amusing, character.

Richie's character is just being weird for comedy's sake. Comedy and humour in general is almost all about experiencing unusual things which surprise us and make us react. There is hardly anything to laugh at when something as mundane as a man walking into a shop, buying bread, then leaving, occurs.

It's a surrealist comedy, he's not supposed to act the norm.
