Today, while visiting my grandma, my aunt and uncle were there as well. My uncle showed us a handgun he had with him, and I was quite fascinated. He offered to take me with him to a shooting range, and I accepted his offer.

I've never been to a shooting range before, and I never thought that I'd ever do it. It sounds sort of exciting. Has anyone ever been to a shooting range before? What should I expect?

It's fun! :)
You go into a narrow sort of room thing, unless it's an outdoor shooting range. I'm not sure how to explain it.
I will say: you NEED quality ear muffs. It hurts your ears.

I went to one with my dad when I was a teenager. I thought the sound would be torture, but it wasn't as loud as I expected. From what I remember, you line up with a bunch of other shooters and just fire at the targets on the other side. Every now and then someone yells "down range" and everyone stops shooting so they can walk down there and set up new targets. As for firing guns, I didn't get much out of it. I just remember being mildly frightened, because I'm so clumsy that I was afraid I would manage to accidentally shoot either myself or someone else.
