Is it just me, or has anyone else ever noticed that those who resort to complaints of "Unfairness" are almost always those who already know that they are on the losing side of an argument, competition, or contest?

"That's Not Fair" seems to be the battle-cry of losers.

I mean, when everyone knows that they are playing by the same rules as everyone else, and there are no rules that limit the words or actions of one side in favor of the other, and the same resources and training are available to everyone involved, then why do the losers still cry "Unfair" when it is clear that the other side is winning?

Just because they are loosing, that doesn't mean that they are wrong.

Though it does tend to be used a lot in cases where it does not apply.

I respond to such people with, "That's right; life isn't fair. There is no meaning or purpose to life, either. So let's just try to enjoy what we can of it, while we can, and stop whining about it, shall we?"

Then I laugh.

What does being NT have to do with it? I tell my kids this all the time and I'm quite obviously not NT.

Sometimes, but not every time is this the case.

Life can be just unfair, but most the time it is that way because of our choices, and sometimes it is just circumstance.

I hate when people say this, yes I know life isn't fair doesn't mean I can't complain about it and/or try to change it.

People on the winning side aren't going to complain that their winning isn't fair, are they?

If they have integrity, they will.

One who is a "Good Sport" might grant a handicap (a few extra free points) to his or her opponent when the opponent is otherwise at an obvious disadvantage, just to be fair.

I think that's quite a good answer actually. I'm gonna remember that one. :)

It is a true statement. And no one has to be a sore loser, that's just the way some people are.

My ex once told me that it was unfair for me to cite her past behavior whenever she criticized mine.

My co-workers think that it's unfair that our employer grants me a higher paycheck than theirs due to my seniority and multiple university degrees.

Another member on this website seems to think that it's unfair to cite specific errors in his database in order to prove that his database has errors. This one deserves a facepalm...

Nature isn't fair. Thus, as a whole, life isn't going to be fair. However, rational human beings can strive to make society as fair as possible. You can tell people to stop whining about what cannot be changed, but some will reserve the right to make a fuss or campaign for change on issues where change IS possible.

I agree though that the idea of what is fair can be distorted by the egocentric interests of a certain individual or party. Thus it might appear that the very notion of fairness is in the eye of the beholder. I don't think that's always the case though.
