This always happens (see below). Can anyone tell me how to fix this WITHOUT shutting down my computer (if it is possible).

These are SUPPOSED to be question marks:

ÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ

Grrrrrrr! Why does that keep happeningÉ

So you see É instead of ?

I have no idea what might be causing this. Is it just the web browser doing this, or is it all of Windows?

I have my question marks back: ????? All I had to do was close the browser and open another. HOWEVER: if anyone does know how to fix this please let me know because closing my browser does NOT work at home on my laptop (and the french e carries into other programs like Microsoft Word, etc. Sometimes when I write an essay, if it happens on a saved essay I am working on, it doesn't even matter if I shut down the computer. In that particular document I cannot get my ? back or the proper quotation marks " " and other things. It is quite annoying).

Yes, Sammich, I saw those Es instead of the ?. I don't know if it would happen on American or British keyboards but mine is a Canadian keyboard that has the ability to switch to French letters for the francophones among us. I have no idea how to switch to the French keyboard even though I do it at least once a day (and so I have no idea how to switch back).

That's your problem right there.

Supposedly if you hold down ctrl and shift for a few seconds that should fix things.

Aha! Thank you very much! I have googled the problem before, but didn't have any luck. I will definitely try that next time...as there WILL be a next time! lol

Thanks again, Sammich: it happened just a few minutes ago (on my laptop this time!) and your suggestion worked! FINALLY no more shutting down my computer required! Woo hoo!
