Any suggestions for a paper topic?

So, I am in an International Development class right now about children and war, and I have to write a policy paper by Friday. The paper is supposed to address a current issue that involves children and armed conflict and how a policy should be created or changed in order.

On the first day of class, I thought I overheard it being said that Canada excludes child soldiers from refugee status, and I did not like this, so I had decided that was what I would do my paper on. Now that I am researching for my sources, I cannot find any mention of this anywhere, so I do not know if I misheard or if it was just inaccurate information (or if I just cannot find anything on the subject).

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas at all for a current issue that would be relevant to children and war (and can be looked at somehow from a Canadian perspective, even if that is not the perspective you come from)? I have no problems doing research or writing, but I am completely at a loss for an interesting topic. Would appreciate any basic suggestions that I might explore further (I am only looking for a sentence or two, not for people to help me with the project itself or anything absurd like that).
