What exactly do people mean when they say "relax tonight" or "do something relaxing"? I get bored at home when I'm not reading textbooks or computer programming.

I don't know anymore - I can never relax!
For me, watching youtube videos is relaxing.

For me, doing something that is my choice and for which there is no specific deadline is relaxing: there no one observing me and I'm not even pushing myself to finish. Doing nothing is also relaxing, up to a point. By doing nothing I mean plunking myself down in front of the TV and watcing whatever is on with judgment suspended.

I relax after hard workouts by listening to music while lying on the ground.

I chillax on the computer whenever I am bored.

I rest whenever I go to bed at night.

Then reading and computer programming are probably the things which are relaxing to you. In other words, they make you happy and relieve your stress.

Actually I know the answer to this one. Turns out for NTs working on something that is not relaxing, it is stressing. For most NTs programming is stressing and reading is boring. They just cannot understand for you its funny and that you actually enjoy doing that. When they say do something relaxing they mean do something pleasant for you that is out of the ordinary and that does not represent work, like watching a movie or playing chess, something you enjoy and that does not involve much effort. But then for you probably that wont be funny, you will be stressed thinking on what you are NOT doing. :)

Maybe you are right. Maybe I need to re-phrase. Most NTs I know find reading boring. And that IS true.

I suppose that for quite a few NTs lazing in front of the TV is relaxing. But for others, reading or moderate exercise is relaxing (I actually find high intensity exercise relaxing). But all the NTs I know like reading fiction for relaxation. I wouldn't go near fiction personally, I hate the stuff.
