im not trying to have people talk down on me for smoking pot, I just want honest constructive answers.

Sometimes when im in a good mood and I smoke weed, I get relaxed, feel good and hungry like most stoners do. Othertimes like in the last 4 months when ive been depressed and I smoke I get more depressed after the initial effects stated above wear off.

Ive heard cases for pot causing depression and ive also heard cases where pot is used to treatr depression. How does it affect you? im curious as to why I feel the way I do.

I get much more relaxed and my mind either turns off or parts of my mind turn off and some filters go down where I can think of things I wouldn't normally think about.

I'm like, "whoa..."

I'm all for the complete legalization of it for medicine and recreational use.

pot has a totally opposite response with me than with other people. it makes me nauseous and paranoid. [or at least more paranoid than i normally am] it has never made me "high."

The only negative side effect I've ever gotten from it was a headache, and I can't say that was from weed because I have chronic headaches anyway. I don't get paranoia, etc. Only sometimes do I get the euphoric feeling that THC can give. For me it kind of slows everything down, and if I get really high I need to sit back and take more time to take in what's going on around me. If I just smoke a bit, it's more of just a relaxing effect. I like how it makes me feel, but the first several times I smoked it I didn't feel much of anything.

You shouldn't be smoking pot. It's five times more dangerous to your lungs than smoking, you'll get addicted, and your supporting terrorism against....

lol, only joking. Tried it once, I was already drunk so I didn't notice anything. I'm going to try it again in a while. Seems healthier than Alcohol anyway.

depends on the strain. some will make my body feel heavy and relaxed (I am pretty tense so I start to feel like my muscles are balloons full of sand), more aware of the rhythm of breathing, slowed movement, feeling like I don't give two s**ts about the clock. others will make my head race and spin and all sorts of strange spaces in my brain will light up that are not usually activated.

when I go out in public while stoned, I am very awkward. I used to think it was because I was just acting high but now I'm pretty sure it's because I realize how strange my behavior always is. I feel like weed just enhances a lot of things- so possibly this could be the depression thing that is going on with you, because I get it sometimes with anxiety/weed. If you are depressed, you'll see your depression in an ever more absurd light when you are stoned.

It makes me really dumb for some reason so I never smoke it. I never understand why...

ehm.. i smoke it to blur or dull my thoughts, emotions and senses that are not so desirable for me. It relieves a lot of my stress for a bit, and it kinda detaches me from everything that's bothering me. i'm depressed and when it hurts again and i smoke, it feels like as if its all in the past. then the next day i could think things through more objectively. and i like getting the laugh trip and food trip, and road trip.. but don't get me wrong, i dont like to be on it all the time. there are just those times.. and yeah it makes me dumb too, its okay for me because there are just some times where i wouldn't want to be smart or even aware.

I hate how some people say, "why do it to escape your problems? They will still be there when you get up in the morning."

I think taking a break from all your troubles is good every now and again. Besides, if you're anything like me and it helps you think other thoughts than the ones you normally think, it might even help you get out of troublesome situations.

It works great on migraines for me, no adverse side effects. Just not possible during work or school so I have to hope I don't get one there..
I don't feel all that different when I smoke. I feel a bit more relaxed and retrospective. If I've had a hard week, smoking at the end of it is more rewarding then getting drunk, at least to me. Mixing drinking and smoking isn't a great idea, IMO. I always get the spins, or just really tired. Not worth it :P. I don't even drink anymore, I just smoke the occasional joint. I've lost all my beer weight and I bet my liver is thanking me for f*****g off with the sauce. Though I would love to have a non-smoking method. I have a vaporizer but its pretty lackluster... Mostly I smoke on an occasional Friday or Saturday, check out space.com's sky-watching section for something to look at, then go out and look at whatever crazy s**t my mediocre telescope will be able to resolve in the night sky

The retrospective nature of it, to me at least, brings problems to the fore of my consciousness, not an escape from them. But I don't mean that in a negative way. I often look at things from very different perspectives. It has helped me understand some of the ways I used to be rude to people without even realizing it or meaning it, among other things

calms/relaxes me and I feel like it turns everything down a little, like when you turn the volume down but the whole world just becomes 'less' it's been a long time since I smoked though, sometimes I wish I could and save myself some of what I have to suffer but I can't (money/availability/responsibility...) and my wife is really anti-drugs, dunno if she'd understand :s

The buzz is enjoyable for about five minutes, then it makes me paranoid and VERY insecure. --Haven't touched it in about 20 years for this very reason.

It makes me pretty happy for the most part. Everything around me is really intense. If I only have a little bit, I just feel relaxed and calm.
I love the stuff. It's better for you then cigarettes or alcohol. Have you ever heard of anybody dying from an over-dose of pot? No. By the time you'd have that much, you'd be knocked out by then. Even the FBI says there hasn't been a case of over-dosage.

This got bumped, but I'll participate anyways.

Marijuana tends to intensify the feelings that you have before you smoke it, so when you're in a good mood, you'll feel good after smoking it. If you're depressed, you'll feel the same or maybe even worse after smoking it. Again, I know you posted what you said in February, but I bet other people will read through this thread after I post this so I figured I might as well say it anyways.
