I was thinking of buying some memory cards to take with me when I go away. Spotting some very cheap - 20p for a 2GB SD card! - ones on Amazon I decided to order some. When I got to the final page I was greeted with this:

Needless to say I decided that perhaps I should reconsider. ;)

It will be necessary to take a lot of memory if I ever go on a long trip (which we might do next year). I was thinking I'll probably need a good 80GB or so if that ever comes to pass. Normally, though, I can get away with just using a 16GB card. What I'd do is post the memory cards home along the way, keeping a backup copy with me.

Otherwise it's not necessary.

I wonder how this mistake happened. Both the unit price and the shipping price seem wrong.

Yeah, Amazon is cheap... But when you're buying multiple items, the shipping charges add up really fast. It sucks.

I was planning on ordering 2 CDs from Amazon later on this month. I was going to purchase a Visa gift card with my Birthday money. I guess that plan is shot, now.

Don't they have super saver shipping?

I would ditch plain SD 2g cards. I have upgraded my cards to microsd with free adapters because they work with more things (although when they send you the microcard remember to email them that an adapter is included in the ad otherwise they will not send it)

Normally I would too. However, if you're shooting lots of photos you don't want to lose a lot of photos if one card gets lost or stolen. A 2GB card will take around 320 photos.

This only arises (on Amazon UK) if you buy products from a non-Amazon trader. You should be fine.

No, I haven't. Is it an American website? SD (or SDHC) memory seems to average out at about £1 ($1.59) per GB but occasionally a little less. For instance I managed to find an 8GB card for £6.73 ($10.70), with free shipping, on Amazon which is a pretty good deal.

Yes they do if you're buying directly from them.
