You should get a corn snake if you want something easy to take care of. However, if you get a baby green burmese python and handle it regularly it can be one of your best friends
. Make sure to never buy adults, cause you don't know what their previous owners were like. They are extremely docile if you make them trust you and feed them well enough. You only hear horror stories from abusive owners or zoos with feral adult specimens. I don't have one yet, but I know for a fact that they are friendly if you treat them right. Also, just look at how beautiful they are!
Burmese is as large as I'll get I think, but that's just me!
If you want to get one, be sure to get or build a large/giant enclosure for it. I'm so sick of people putting them in small spaces.
