Were all of the previous Doctor Who series as good as the current one? I'm feeling a little like I missed out because I've never seen them

:)

The old Dr Who series is good, but somewhat different. There were frequently more companions, and it had a smaller budget. Also, the 'last time lord' thing they've got going on is strictly a new series thing. They also usually had a tiny budget to work with in the old show, so the special effects often looked bad, whereas the new show is a high-budget showoff-fest in that respect. Both worked, but differently. I like both.

I haven't watched the new one very much, but Matt Smith has a really oddly-shaped head and face

It's funny that you posted this thread today, because I had a dream about Doctor Who last night...

Anyway, out of all the Doctor Who series, I like the David Tennant years the most. His personality reminded me a lot of the Mad Hatter from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie, which is what caused me to become partial to him (at the same time I got into Doctor Who, the Alice movie was my primary special interest).

Did you go watch? Did you like?

I don't think the special effects were poor, they were totally cutting edge at the time. I was 8, fascinated by Tom Baker. In 2050, people will watch now Who and the special effects in films like Cloverfield and compare to their emersive, holographic, 3D TVs, and laugh.

Like the Smash Aliens laugh at primitive earth people who peeled spuds (70s British TV ad)

I really don't understand what's happened to DW now. The Master has disappeared, The Rani has completely gone....there seem to be loads of random timelords, I hate River Song, nothing makes any sense. We have forgotten about Gallifrey, the Doctor's childhood...all the really interesting things. Now we just have some guy fighting random aliens...the good aliens seem to have been forgotten about.

Seriously...if The Master doesn't come back, I will rip my breasts off...or something. :x

I prefer the tenth Doctor.
