Does anyone have particular voices or tones of voice that they like more than others?

I watched a lot of Classic Disney and Winnie the Pooh when I was a kid, and heard Sterling Holloway's voice a lot, especially in the Pooh stuff I watched (mostly pre - 80s/90s Pooh, since I think Holloway retired/began having health problems around that time, and his Pooh - voicing duties went to Hal Smith and later Jim Cummings). He narrated a lot of classic Disney shorts, and one thing that was unique to his narrating style was that he seemed to speak directly TO his audience...like he was telling them, "Okay, I'm not here to waste you guys' time, I'm going to engage with you and make sure you're having as good a time listening to this as I am narrating it for you." :D

Anyway, I grew up really liking the sound of his voice...it was soothing, sweet, and also sort of melancholic...like he was harboring some kind of deep emotional wound. That's what I always thought, anyway.

For those of you who maybe aren't familiar with how he sounds, here's a clip of the man himself fixing someone's TV and being totally adorable as he does so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HKzNp1KafY

He's a sweetheart, isn't he? :D As I got older, I did more and more research on him, and bcuz I like drawing cartoons in my spare time, I even created a little chibi character of him, who is simply named "Holloway." :D I'll have to post some of my drawings of him in the Art forum sometime.

So, how about the rest of you guys? Is there any voice/sounds that you're just drawn to, and you don't really know why, you just like them a lot?

Yes, he has a distinctive voice. I remember it from Winnie the Pooh of course, but also Lambert the sheepish lion (a Disney short/Silly Symphony). I used to love Silly Symphonies.

My favourite voice is probably Kiefer Sutherland's cos it's deep and sexy. Favourite voice of an animation character would definately be Buzz Lightyear.

I like the voice of Eliza Doolittle in the movie My Fair Lady, before she lost her accent. I also like Mick Avory's voice.

Gerard Butler, Ville Valo, Leonard Cohen.
There's also one psychology lecturer I know. His voice is very soft and calming, just draws you in.

EG Daily. She voiced Tommy Pickles from The Rugrats and Buttercup from The Powerpuff Girls, and played Pee Wee Herman's love interest Dottie in Pee Wee's Big Adventure. She has kind of a sweet, almost raspy type of voice that I find very endearing. If my life were ever made into an animated movie, I would want her to voice me (although her voice is actually a lot more expressive than mine, since I speak with a monotone voice).
