I might be going back to college soon.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE clothes...they make me feel skinny, pretty, and artistic.
Yet, my parents don't want me to bring as many clothes as I did last time because I don't wash them enough (I have enough I can let them stay in a laundry basket and still have outfits in the closet for at least a month...pants-wise. Theoretically, I could do this for shirts for 3 months).
I usually do laundry once a month......AHHHH, THAT IS AWFUL. (apparently)
I should be doing it once a freaking week.
Once I get back to college, I might have a busy life.
I think every 2-3 weeks is a reasonable compromise.
I will work on doing that, but my dad thinks I am a liar.
(whereas, nobody told me at ALL how to succeed last time...now I have guidelines).
My question is:

*How do I prove I am doing laundry every 2-3 weeks?
*How often do you (specify if college student, parent, or other) do your laundry?
*If you had enough clothes to make the same habit that I did....would you?
Thanks so much!
I am freaking stressed from this. -_- >:(

I do laundry only when I have no more clothes to wear.

I'm a single guy, but I do laundry 1-2X per week on average.

I have a washer/dryer in my apartment so it's really convenient to do...

I can do that and not wash pants for a month, maybe longer. I could do that for 3 months maybe 2 with regular shirts. I can wear the same shorts inside the house for a month.

Hmmm, but you have a machine in the apartment

Me too, and I don't have a job...I'm going off savings from grade-money from HS.

o I absolutely DETEST doing laundry. It would be so much easier if I had my own washer/dryer. And somewhere to put them.

I did this my first year of college for sure. I still avoid doing laundry until I don't have pants.
I don't understand why your parents are so upset about this. Or why they have any interest in controlling what you do with your clothes.

I was just wondering this. I don't understand what the problem is.

Because apparently it makes the room/apartment smell (it doesn't) but it bugged my roommates last time and the apartment managers forced me to was EVERYTHING including my bedspread.

It's also supposed to be "life skills" that I need to learn.

Exactly...why waste my money on soap and water and a machine. Urgola.

Roommates are weird. My sister lived with some girls her first year of college who got SUPER offended when she changed clothes and didn't immediately put a shirt back on...not like walking around naked or anything even, just walking around in her bra while her hair dried and such.
I'd say invest in one of those big pop-up laundry hampers (the kind you can collapse). I had one for the longest time, that held about 2/3 of all my clothes and had wheels on the bottom. Surely no one can object to dirty laundry in a hamper, we don't all have those birds that Cinderella did.

I have one of those...they object to that too.

I really want that to mean that you have some house-cleaning woodland creatures. Guessing not, though.
Were you in a dorm room or an apartment-like place? I guess in a dorm room I could see laundry being annoying if it wasn't all consolidated...even so though, if you have your own room it'd be pretty impossible for them to notice much less "smell" it. That's just BS.

Haha, I wish.
I was sharing a bedroom in an apartment.
The ONLY difference was that I had a place to cook at any time of the day/night. (which I need, because I have a seriously challenging diet)
Oh, it's a social whatever life skills rule.
But they did clean checks there. I didn't mind if they checked if it was visibly clean...my half of the room was usually spotless a few hours before.
Plus, I think everyone is just jealous that I have that many clothes....they were girls.

Just wear the clothes into the shower at the end of the day. Scrub, wring 'em out and hang to dry. Problem solved.
