i love buying thoughtful things. i feel a bit bummed if i don't have time or can't find anything perfect

That's a fun article. Giving good gifts is hard. Perhaps half a dozen times in my life I've given someone the perfect gift. It's a great feeling. But a lot of the time you just have to settle for OK gifts. So long as they're not awful, offensive or embarrassing, that's good enough.

As they say, the perfect is the enemy of the good.
