My Fridge Freezer isn't cold enough and neither is my fridge.

A couple of months ago it was just the fridge that wasn't cold enough. Because I couldn't afford an engineer I kept the food cold with ice packs as the freezer was still working.

Today the freezer isn't cold enough either.

I've defrosted it, cleaned the drain, and vacuumed the elements on the back of it and beneath.
Any further advice?

I suspect the hardware shops will be open tomorrow (Boxing Day) and I can tools/parts, so I await your replies.

Really need someone's advice!! !!

Does it have a thermostat that maybe isn't set low enough? Is the freezer overstuffed with food? Sometimes having too much in there will keep it from cooling sufficiently for some reason.

It may be she'll have to get a new one, if she can afford it, but like SoundOfRain I like to try to fix things first, or at least figure out what is wrong. I've managed to fix a lot of things in the past.

Yes, I like to try to fix things too but just end up with a back yard full of spare parts
