In about an hour or so a quarter of a century will have passed since the event of my birth.
And then I wondered, how far is that from the truth?
At first I was learning about leap years and thinking to subtract all of the arbitrarily inserted leap days that had occurred in my life, then add exactly the summation of the 1/4 days I would have accumulated.
Then I realized this was silly because I have a simpler tool.
However I found some neat stuff on wikipedia, i would like to share.
Intercalation is the insertion of a leap day, week or month into some calendar years to make the calendar follow the seasons or moon phases. Lunisolar calendars may require intercalations of both days and months.
Epagomenal days are days within a solar calendar that are outside any regular month. Usually five epagomenal days are included within every year (Egyptian, Coptic, Ethiopian and French Republican calendars), but a sixth epagomenal day is intercalated every four years in some (Coptic, Ethiopian and French Republican calendars). The Bahá'í calendar includes four epagomenal days, with a fifth intercalary day matching the pattern of intercalation in the Gregorian calendar.
I just found it interesting there are actually scientific words for these things. I've been thinking about creating a calendar for some time, though I'm not sure what day to start it from. My calendar would be for a two year period, and only have one intercalary day in each calendary period. Though i didn't know until recently that intercalary was the word for those sorts of days. I haven't decided what my months will be like, but i generally intend to make it intentionally strange and off putting. I imagine months to be smaller, and weeks longer. I also intend to design a clock as well. I've been toying around with the idea of using the same names for various units but in different orders. For example maybe 'century' would signify a ten minute period.
anywho as to when do i actually turn 25?
25 X 365.25 = 9131.25 days
go to this website :

01.02.1987 & add 9131 days = errrr well it actually lines up to today. i guess i was being overly skeptical. BUT that fourth day is six hours, so 25 years hasn't really elapsed until another 6 hours. by which time i will no longer be on the clock.
which means i am less justified in wasting my employers time writing this post rather than slaving away with data entry . . . .
oops!
