Saying "happy birthday" to people on your birthday

It took me a little while to know what exactly to say when someone told me "happy birthday" and for the longest time, I would tell it back to them. even though it was not their birthday.

when someone says "merry christmas" you repeat it back, same with "happy holidays" and "happy Halloween.". so it was, (and still is) weird to say "thankyou" after someone tells you happy birthday. I have to stop myself sometimes even today from telling them "happy birthday" back...

My auntie does this. She's 87 now, but I remember her doing it when she was younger too. She has a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, but I suspect she AS.

Sorry but I found this quite funny to read. I see your point though.

It's not much worse than my response to curl up into the foetal position with cringe-worthiness :P .
