I'm not really an aggressive person but if I am annoyed about something and someone tells me to "calm down" it does sometimes make me more irritated.

Same here or upset. I NEVER heard of a single incident of someone being helped by being told to calm down or another saying

I get very annoyed when somebody tells me to calm down in a loud voice. I also get defiant.

The truth is that I get agressive when "people say" just about anything, but especially when I'm engaged in a thrilling game of Uproar and some little pea-brain wants to get reasonable about things.

I get ticked when people tell me to calm down when I'm already calm and speaking in a normal tone of voice and not doing anything except reminding them of something they apparantly forgot. My husband tells me to "calm down" all the time. When I'm calm.

I tell him "I am calm. If I was any calmer, I'd be British"
