I feel like a champion right now.
OK, I'm going to brag a bit, or, probably a lot in this thread. Why? Because I carried a desk for .7 miles home, that's why! I saw this desk on the side of the road that looked perfect for my bedroom, I tried it in my car yesterday afternoon, but alas, it wouldn't fit any way I put it in. Sadly, I have 2 cars that'd easily carry a desk home, but they're broken. Well, the sky looks all gray and nasty about now, so I figured it'd snow soon. Or rain. That means no more desk.
Yesterday at the gym, when I was getting my bodyfat levels checked, by one of the trainers I knew (I'm pretty cool with him, but yeah), he asked, when I brought up powerlifting, "Why do you even care how strong you are, it's not that practical at all, what do you do, move furniture every weekend?" So, I had a bit of an ephinany, I'm gonna carry this desk home with my hands. Why? Why not?
And so I did. I thought it was like an 1/8 mile at most, then I plugged it into google maps.... .7 miles... Wow. I weighed myself with the desk on the bathroom scale, and the desk probably was only 50ish pounds without the drawers in (I put the drawers in my car, and walked back to my car after.) But it's a desk, it's huge and awkward to carry weight. Anyway, the desk is perfect for my purposes. It's an older desk, not a particularly perfect wonderful desk, had it's little knicks and whatever, but it wasn't like, falling apart by any means. I figured this would be perfect, I could do Gundam models or something on it, without feeling guilty about spilling paint or something on it. And so. I got the desk home. A few people looked at me, but oddly, I got less attention from carrying a desk down the sidewalk than I'd have thought. Halfway through carrying said desk down the sidewalk, I realized "hey wait, even though you didn't have tiedowns, you do have rope at home, you could have just tied this thing to the trunk of your car that way."
So yeah, maybe not a stroke of genius, maybe more along the lines of a stroke of stupidity, but it just seemed like a fun challenge. And it was. It was great. And I got a desk. And the guy also threw out some cowboy boots in my size, so now I got cowboy boots, too.
I don't know, I just got immense satisfaction from being like "haha, skinny trainer guy, I'll show you practical!"
I'm basically on writing this because I'm like, still amped from doing this. Probably a good amount of adrenaline and testosterone from it all. It was just so satisfying to do it just really for the only reasoning of "because I can." To quote Cave Johnson, "Science isn't about why, it's about why not!" Indeed it is. Today I was alone the entire day almost, with no one to bother me, and I guess I just got a random like, ton of motivation. Anyone else ever feel like that? Just random "peaks" of motivation, where you'll just "power through" a task like that. I don't know, but I feel quite happy.
Here's my desk, too.

Cool! You got those endorphins going! It feels good to be in top shape physically, doesn't it? Keep it up and maintain it as long as you can, and that way you can still be in shape when you are in late middle age like me (I didn't keep it up and got out of shape and am just too lazy to get back in shape although I could if I got off my *ss and did it)
Heres a couple videos for you, posted in a lighthearted way.

That one was what I thought of from your thread title and the next one is one that used to be very popular at the gym, although not anymore.

Right on!
I have a goal to get in top physical shape. Unlike most *cough* females, I want to develop my upper body strength. I'm going to try out the strength training exercises on my Wii Fit over the next couple of days. I also plan to buy a 20 lb dumbbell that I can do bicep curls with and a 10 lb one that I can work my triceps with.
