REPHRASED POLL QUESTION: Are you Left-handed or Ambidextrous and with any Psyh Syndrome (Autism,Aspie, ADHD etc)?

I believe the question is biased in a way that I am not asking for those who are right-handed....BUT I've seen this link in another site...

http://www.psychforums.com/asperger-syn ... 01-20.html

AND this is basically not what I want to know...because if there are 90% right handed people in the world population definitely there will be more right-handed aspies than the left-handed aspies...

What I want to know is how much or how high is the probability for a left-handed or ambidextrous or right-brain dominant person to be diagnosed with any psych syndrome (aspie, ADHD, NT, autism etc) because I have a strong belief that what causes a person to different or uncommon is that NATURALLY this uncommon person was born RIGHT-BRAINED (almost all left-handed are right-brained) which means NATURALLY his/her brain functions uncommonly or differently..

At least maybe if this can be taken into consideration for some experts...A FLAG or a GLOBAL UNDERSTANDING by parents or teachers and society would be raised that when a person is left-handed or ambidextrous we wouldn't be surprised to know or notice when he/she (left-handed or ambidextrous) starts behaving differently or uncommonly....

Although it is again biased to those right-handed Aspies, ADHD, or any, BUT that is because it has the least probability for a right-handed to be an aspie, ADHD, NT, autism etc...UNLIKE the left-handed or ambidextrous who are "MOST LIKELY" to be with some psych syndrome...especially just now its showing that 88% of the left-handed are aspies, or with ADHD or any other psych syndrome.

JUST A BIT OF CURIOSITY: WHY is it that in ancient beliefs or pagan beliefs and in history (catholic and muslim belief).... IT HAS BEEN PERCEIVED THAT BEING LEFT-HANDED MEANS THAT THE PERSON WAS POSSESSED BY EVIL OR IS UNACCEPTABLE OR IS A SIN? And left-handed people in those times were forced to write or hold spoon with their right hand? Is it because of being left-handed that they perceived left-handers this way? I DON'T THINK SO. I believe that in those times before psychology and psychiatry were being studied thoroughly; it was this ancient people's experience that "almost" all of the left-handed people are behaving differently....people in those times don't know about aspie, ADHD, NT, AUTISM etc....so they think this people are possessed by evil...

This struck my curiosity because my son is Left-handed...and he is showing..Aspie-like behavior...My older brother is a left-handed...I know his Aspie-like behaviors (now that I understand AS) He is fine as a person..But maybe that is because he is already 40 yrs old. I don't think he was diagnosed for anything about his childhood behavior..something I don't know...he is 6 yrs older than me... so it there's a connection between being left-handed and Aspie-like behavior...Maybe I could understand more my son based on how my brother grew up based on my parents point of view..and maybe my brother himself..if he's aware of his own self..including maybe his odd behavior (I believe everybody has his odd behavior one way or another..Aspie or not)

So I thought I could make a poll out of the left-handed people who are here...if they are aspie or not?

thanks...[b]

Yes...Sorry for the right Handed people... I've seen this link in another site...

http://www.psychforums.com/asperger-syn ... 01-20.html

but is basically not what I want to know...if there are 90% right handed people in the world population definitely there will be more right-handed aspies than the left-handed aspies right?

BUT what I want to know is how much of the left-handed people are aspies.... because I am suspecting that being left-handed has something to do with being Aspie...

I guess...maybe I should ask if you're right brained... BUT most people wouldn't know if they're right-brained..most left-handed are right-brained but there are right handed who are right brained..a rare case...could be the reason of being aspie...right brained..but not everyone knows right or left brain dominance...BUT everyone would know if he's right or left-handed...so the simpler question that I wanted to understand is to those who are left-handed...

Thanks anyone

I'm on the spectrum and I'm left handed. I recently read that there may be a link with brain injury and being left handed. I suspect similarly.

To add more to my curiosity...

In history and ancient beliefs..religious or pagan beliefs... left-handed person was thought to be possessed by demons... NOT so long ago...people who are left-handed were forced to eat and write using their right hand..

I suspect that the reason why they believed left-handed people are possessed by evil because..if my thoughts is right...being left-handed or right-brained makes their brain to function differently...resulting to ODD behavior...a reason for ancient people to think they are possessed...BUT that was in those times when Psychology and psychiatry haven't been understood and accepted..

So... thanks again anyone... please vote...if you're a lefty and been diagnosed with any psych syndrome

Hmm... but I can't view the results. :(

And I remember when I was young a teacher was forcing me to write left handed telling me right handed was wrong.

I use my left hand for almost everything, except opening jars. I wonder if there is a link between ADHD and Left handedness. I read somewhere that there may be. But I'm not entirely sure.

Actually the view results button has never worked for me, just refreshes the page.

And yes, I'm unsure what the teacher was thinking but I remember her saying it was wrong to write right handed, then physically put my pencil in my left hand. Although I've met odd teachers, in first grade the teacher said, "you can remember how to write friends because friends always end." (Friend)

It worked, but honestly.... Debbie Downer maybe?

I strongly believe there is a link between...most appropriately..."right-brain dominant" person (left-handed are mostly right-brain dominant) to any psych syndrome...

ambidextrous person are, I believe, also most likely have some psych syndrome.. I am mostly right-handed..but a bit Ambidextrous..I carry most things with my left hand...in skate board when I was a kid...my left leg is the one I use to push...my friend told me that I am suppose to use my right leg to push because I am right handed..it was hard...I use my left leg to push... the same with sling shot or bows...I pull the string with my left-hand and use my right-hand to point direction of the arrow or sling...my friends told me it's reversed...I am suppose to pull with my right hand because I am right handed...

for this reason...maybe my ambidexterity has something to do with my "above average" chance to be an Aspie..when I took the online test...

I guess I should "rephrase" my poll question to...Are you Left-handed or Ambidextrous and with any Psych syndrome (Aspie, ADHD..etc)...

there is a big chance to this analogy because I know many left handed people whom are most likely to be undiagnosed Aspies...me for one...I guess

Without righties your poll only checks the amount of left handed people on the forum. So your simply checking the amount of nt to aspie population on this forum. I fail to see the logic in this... and am quite confused. :? But if there was a connection I'd like to see it. My sisters a lefty nt but is freaking out all the time. Opposite of me, but she doesn't have meltdowns.

I understand what you mean... BUT maybe its worth the study for maybe some experts who would agree and believe the relationship between left-handedness to any psych syndrome...So it would be like...If you'll have a child who will grow up a lefty...chances are she/he will be with some psych syndrome....something like that...it will not surprise someone...they may understand..and probably would find a way to adapt to the lefties instead of forcing them to adapt to society of right handed people (90% of the population)...

For example myself as a father...when my son started showing his Aspie behaviors...it made me worry and even think we might have done something when he was still in his mother's womb...when he was just about 4 or 5...I am really sorry because I was just really freaking out when he just can't understand my instruction...I taught him to tie his shoes...hold spoon and fork..it frustrated me a lot..

SO this is basically my point...if 90-99% of the left-handed or ambidextrous people are with some psych syndrome...parents would be able to understand their child immediately if especially their child shows left-handedness...

Really as a father I blame myself for being pissed off and angry when my son just couldn't understand simple things...alpahabets and numbers gets reversed...spelling is very hard to teach...he can't hold his spoon properly...he breaks things...NOW I feel stupid...it is my ignorance...NOT my son's fault...HE is a lefty..what can he do? He is an Aspie...I didn't know before...I just know he is left-handed and don't know any relationship to psych syndrome...I strongly believe there is..BUT that just now..I've already been stupid sometime ago...

I hope this make sense...
