Because I'm not a child anymore, and yet I still fidget and move constantly, so there I was about to choose my selection of beer when this cop comes up to me and asks if I'm on drugs. Because I was shaking my legs around, cracking my neck, stretching my fingers, doing tics with my face as I always do. I had to explain to him I wasn't on drugs and all that good stuff. This has happened to me 6 times in a YEAR. I could be wearing a SUIT and the cops will park they're ass on the side of the road and pat me down.

I do that to, yet I've never had a cop question it...well except for the one time when I was outside my college dorms my first year of college and was lighting a cigarette but it was windy so I had to use my other hand to block the wind and a campus cop saw this and thought I was smoking a pipe so he came over and questioned me about it. But that was not so much about fidgeting.

It really gets on my nerves, but I do not want to fight with a cop. I'd rather not go to jail for harassing an officer of the law...Never been to jail, never plan to go either.

have you tried wearing a medic-alert bracelet (or whatever it's called)? it may help.

do you take meds for the fidgeting?

No, Meds turn me into a zombie. And can you really get a medic-alert bracelet for something like ADHD? I thought it was for Diabetes only.

yes, you can get one. it will help but officers will still stop you to see why you're acting strangely.

here is the canadian site, just to show you. if you scroll to the bottom of the page ADD/ADHD is listed as an applicable condition:

http://canada.universalmedicalid.com/canada/index.php

if you are not on meds but you are extremely agitated in public, you can pretty much expect to be interrogated. to avoid zombification, try taking 1/4 or even 1/8 of the dosage recommended, then increase slowly if it doesn't help enough. i rarely take more than 1/2 of the prescribed dosaged for various meds.

Once I re-obtain health insurance. I'll be sure to do that.

That stinks. :( I always have to move, Sitting in my chair all day long, I've been constantly tapping my feet and legs around, when my left leg is resting on my knee in a "T Shape, I've probably shaken my foot 19,000,000 times today, and when both legs are down, I've shaken both legs up and down over 20,000,000 times. I can't stop fidgeting. :?

ugh, that is awful. and then to have people like cops assuming you're strung out is a double whammy. i am sort of twitchy - not exactly restless. like, nobody likes to hold hands with me because my fingers don't stay still and stuff like that.

But I pull through it and I tend to brush it off my shoulders or at least pick at the hairs. I try not to let it bother me.

i've had to explain to cops that i don't like eye contact, and my cronalogical order is non=exestant, they always act worse after....like i'm lieing to them
a good friend of mine got the sh** beat out of her w/ a pipe, and she called me to pick her up, so i went to the hospital and took her back to my place and put her to bed. right as she was falling asleep the cops knocked on the door. i told them i would talk to them but she needed her rest, they soon asked about her drug use cus she was not acting right at the hospital(who acts right after a bad beating?) i told them she has asperger's, they said hu? i said autism and emotionaly she will shut down after a emotional tramatic experiance. they looked at me like i was lieing and started asking me questions like i did it. remember cops will lie to get you to mix up your story(my nld, cronalogical order has always given me problems w/ cops). the best thing to do is explain your self w/ as few words as posable.

The Medic Alert Foundation charges $10.00 for a fully engraved bracelet and they have their own website. My sister wears one.

Yeah, I can see getting upset about that. From what I know about the foundation, they love detail. When you fill out the order form, put plenty of it on there. They just want to get it right.
