I'm just curious of what you think of the portrayal of AS in this episode here.

Do you think this portrayal is rather accurate or more stereotypical? Can you relate to Carl?

I'm the same way about The Kinks as he is about trains, except I don't go on about my special interests to everybody. Only people I trust. If I trust someone, than I might get a little animated. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm able to mix it up with my safe people as well. My family aren't my safe people.

The unfamiliar things of the 21st Century make me feel like going back to a simpler time. I don't have meltdowns when I see things that I don't like but at the same time, I block out things that I don't like to see.

No, I can't really relate to Carl, at all.

i couldnt relate at all. i thought he was too textbook. and trains? stereotype. i get the obsession and the need to talk about it though i rarely do and not like that. does anyone react to things they dont like like that? just wondering. it was too heavy handed. one good thing about this episode was that it portrayed an autistic kid who had extreme symptoms and his mums reaction wasnt oh woe is me- it was my son is an individual and im down with that. she totally kept her cool during his meltdown and everything. i was jealous of that kid. i love arthur.

And I say hey! HEY!

I personally found the portrayal to be too textbook. I don't react the way he does and I don't speak monotonously. I also don't care about trains. xD

Oh jeez, anyone would find that dummy scary!

And yeah, waaaay too textbook. It's pretty rare when someone affected with Asperger's has EVERY single symptom ever listed.

The utter lack of empathy or understanding is really stereotypical, but if you take that I away this is what I looked like when I was 6-7. People had to forcibly shut me up when I was talking about trains.

Can't really relate and found it stereotypical, but then again, it was only a 15 minute episode. I was glad that they didn't portray autism in a negative way, also I liked that the mom was understanding of Carl.

And, what was with that little unrelated piece at the end?
