When my husband asks "Where is the ....." , I sit and visually go through every drawer, cupboard, nook and cranny in the house, picturing each place as it was the last time I was there and normally I find the item, without moving a muscle. (except my eyes which apparantly wander a little in space while I see the parts of the house I'm searching)

It took him a while to get used to this, he has to actually get up and look in a drawer even if he was in that drawer an hour or two earlier, unless he remembers actually putting it there or can guess because its normally there. Now he knows I am mentally searching the whole house he keeps quiet and waits for the answer.

Does anyone else do this, is it an AS thing, or do NTs do it too?

That sounds useful but no, I don't do it. It wouldn't do me any good because the reason I can't find things is I'm not aware when I put something down. I have made an effort to put the car keys within visual distance of the front door.
