Anybody interested in the True Crime genre?

I'm very fascinated with the genre. I've read books, websites and watched various documentaries.

A few years ago I read everything Ann Rule had ever written. Have you seen CitizenX? One of my favorite true crime movies.

Nope never seen CitizenX.

Dr. Crippen (There seems to be some serious doubt regarding whose body was actually buried in that cellar)

I'm fascinated by the Charles Manson story, I even spent the night (alone) in the remote Death Valley compound where he and his "family" were captured back in December.

I have no idea why it's so interesting to me, all my other interests are extremely geeky...

CitizenX is about the Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo. He murdered 52 people over 8 years. The movie came out in 2000, starring Stephen Rea and Donald Sutherland.

Not really, but I like the cop shows. I have a thing for Det Robert Goren (Law & Order, Criminal Intent) and Agent Tony D'Onozio (NCIS). My mother loves those true crime books, and mystery books though. I did read Mark Furnam's book about OJ though.

It worked. True crime has always been extremely annoying to me, I can't really understand how people enjoy... well, I'll stop myself there since my thoughts aren't being very accurate.

I can understand how people can enjoy anything, since tastes differ. I have no issues with true crime... But its just, the variance in plot tends to be lacking...

Citizen X is fantastic for a made for TV HBO movie.

I eventually tracked down the book The Killer Department by Robert Cullen and read it. I really find this whole story captivating because of the story of Lt. Detective Burakov. Years and years of tracking the killer and inspecting gruesome murder scenes. All the time fight the emotional toll, stress, and mounting depression. Determined to keep going and see it through.

I really like stories of detective work and also somewhat the rise and fall of Mafia families. HBO also did a very good movie based around John Gotti.

I started reading Iceman...I think that's what it was called. It was about a convicted murderer that claimed to be a contract killer for the mob. Started out ok, and had some interesting ideas, but to me seemed like a complete fabrication and I lost interest

Underboss is interesting. It's autobiographical stuff co-written with Sammy the Bull.

The guy is a really mentally twisted bastard. He was crazy, went to Vietnam, and came back even more crazy and ready made to fit the roll of mob enforcer.

Didja know that Bugsy Siegal's wife's brother was a hitman for the Mafia?
And his mistress, Virginia, embezzled at least two million from them? That may be the real reason he was executed...he certainly had questionable taste in women!
