When I was about 17 years ago, when I was 8 years old, I had a very unusual dream. In this dream I was laying in my bed staring at the wall in front of me, where a moving was playing. Well, according to my mother I was awake and telling her how there was a moving playing on the wall. In this "movie" there were two families and they were in some sort of competition. I can't remember any more of what happened. When I woke up, I noticed everything sounded unusual. The water pouring into the bathtub sounded like boulders pounding into each other, not so much as in the intensity, merely the way the water sounded. In addition, everything seemed to move in slow-motion and everything looked much further away, as if the whole world around me grew. These effects faded later in the day, but periodically through the years these altered perceptions would return and would precede a recurring dream. In these dreams, I'd be running a giant boulder or something down a maze-like pathway. The dreams felt like they lasted such a long time that I would wake up relieved I was finally awake again. These episodes became less and less frequent, and the last one I had was about 7-8 years ago.

So, anyone have any insight into what this was? Had a similar experience?

a long time ago, as a child, i had a few bizarre dreams that made me awaken with dramatically enhanced senses, usually at night, and this would last a few hours before it faded. everything would be a lot brighter and sharper and louder. aside from food which disagreed with me, i couldn't tell you what caused this.
