i love popcorn but only when making it myself. it is so amazing! you put these little brown pellets into a machine, plug it in, makes alot of noise, and then popcorn shoots out! such a small amount of pellets makes alot of popcorn too. and you can eat it all day and never gain any weight. (as long as you dont put anything on it. it tastes really good plain so i dont see any reason to add anything)

I've got quite the sweet tooth, so I enjoy sugar and some butter on my popcorn. One interesting thing I've noticed is that most people I know here prefer sweet popcorn or "kettle corn" as its known in North America, and its available in all cinemas. But when I was on holiday in Canada, I discovered most cinemas don't offer it and opt for salted.

I like to put just a little bit of regular vegetable oil on my popcorn and salt. No butter, just oil. It sounds gross but everybody who I have ever got to try it loves it. Try it, just a capful.

There's a chain of popcorn snack concessions in Canada called Kernels. Kernels offers a plethora of different popcorn flavours there from sweet to savoury. They have kettle popcorn as well. Yeah, the average Cineplex here only offers your regular popcorn with salt and butter topping.

In the UK most cinemas offer sweet or salted (most of it pre-popped here). (fake) butter topping is not normally offered. Caramel popcorn is usually sold in sealed bags.

The smell of popcorn is the best bit (and makes customers spend a stupid amount on an oversized tub of the stuff [which costs the cinemas next to nothing to buy]).

bacon grease in a pot melt on high flame
add salt, and cinniomin(SP), maple sirup(SP)
when melted add enough pop corn kernals to cover the bottom and cover
2-4min. later they start to pop, start softly shaking the pot
remove when there is no more popping

just made some less than an hour ago! :D

Pot cooked popcorn is a family affair from my Father's side to me. I'm a little bit of a pyro so far, and hope I can soon learn how not to burn parts of our home. Growing up, there was always popcorn around. We prefer using very oiled, seldom washed pots, even if they catch on fire from the outside because of buildup on the outer parts. :P My Father's favorite pot does that. He makes the best I ever had to. I simply had to have it over and over again while I visited him recently. Canola oil, high heat, hard kernels that last almost forever before cooking, and salt. That does it for me.

You can get kettle corn at the movies there? That's awesome. It's the only kind of popcorn I like.

Yep, most people tend to prefer it here. With all the different sugary treats over there I was surprised there was no sweet popcorn option in the cinemas!
Also I never knew that cheddar popcorn existed, until now! ^ Sounds like a strange combo.
