Does anyone else not like sleeping in hotels?

For me:
1) it's way too expensive for what it is
2) it's way too noisy (neighbours, bad isolation)
3) you have to check out way too early
4) breakfast closes way too early
5) rooms get cleaned way too early
6) there are no free food or drinks inside the hotel room
7) the rooms are way too small

I could go on...

I don't see the appeal of it.

I avoid them as much as possible, I even prefer campings.

They're ok when the rooms are tidy and well kept. I don't like motel pillows though, they're always rock hard. And the bedspreads are always drab. I don't know why motel owners insist on ugly manchester and furnishings.

I don't care to sleep in them, either.

If its just me I don't care but usually I'm with the parents or family if I'm in a hotel so its horrible for a multitude of reasons.

I like stealing the towels and soap.

I have trouble sleeping in strange places in general. I think it's that they don't smell right. When I travel, I have to bring my own pillows so that it smells like home. And early check-outs are really a drag.

Add: Bright lights shining into the room, and i even encountered rooms whose curtains can't even close as the rods they drape from only go part way.

Regardless of the quality of the hotel I hate it because I feel out of control. I normally do my own cooking, know what time i'm doing this, that and the other so feel a bit scared by the prospect of travel

I've never stayed in a hotel that's less than 3 stars, so my experiences are in general very good.

I even stayed in a hotel that at the time had only been open for a month. It was so nice! *-*

It really depends on the hotel, What about a hostel and you don't know any of the 7 people your sleeping in the same room as yeah totally out of the comfort zone there >_>

I never really had many bad experiences at a hotel. The ones I've been to were all quite nice.

One of the only problems I have are with the blankets. I'm used to sleeping with heavier blankets on top of a blanket with a certain texture, and the ones at the hotel are so lightweight and they feel different, so I might have a harder time sleeping because of that.

... I think that's the only complaint I have for now.

or me it's the thought of having bodily fluids on the bed, pillow, remote control, television set, dresser, etc. All the sickening germ-related things I've heard about hotel rooms. If I ever go, I will wrap the bed in plastic, break out the Luminol and black light and work feverishly to sterilize the room. I'd just as soon stay in my car and sleep before entering those germ-ridden Petri dishes.

I suppose that depends if you like going different places or not. If you keep your eyes peeled, you can find some very good deals. Be careful with the cheaper ones though - they can be rather grotty, so do your homework!



I rarely find that. What I do find is that it's often too hot though.



10am is too early, yes, but many places let you check out at noon.



Dependent on the place, but I find that about 9am-9:30am is a good time to go down for brekkie.



Put the notice on the door then!



In some places there are. And there is usually always tea or coffee. Some places even have a fridge, like this place I stopped at in Tenerife...



...all you do, you go out and fill it with your own snacks.



Choose somewhere with a larger room then!

I do wonder how you ever step out of the house you know, or do any day-to-day things.

Every single thing has germs on. Most of them are healthy and won't do you any harm.

True, some people like to use them for other things, too.
