The BBC reported that a colony of flying penguins had been found (in Greenland
perhaps ? ).
The Metro newspaper reported that one of
the rare breed of 2-headed Llamas (called
'Pushmepullyous) had been obtained by
Edinburgh Zoo.

It's weird...Iceland is mostly green, and Greenland is mostly ice.

But they have found fossils of bacteria on Mars, and topography which shows that there had been water there at one point.. Im pretty sure those facts werent jokes...

The people who named them (whoever they were) were trying to trick (I think their enemies, whoever that was)...If I remember correctly...

But Iceland's name has nothing to do with ice. It's spelled "Island" in the Icelandic language, and it simply means "island".

Sorry to correct you Tim,but the study of
names is one of my pet subjects and I'm
sure Is= Ice in Icelandic so it's meaning is
just as we hear it in English.It's true that the
island isn't 'Icy' these days but it may well
have been when it was named 1000 years
ago.It's not exactly tropical now.
I also heard the story that UtukXul mentioned about it being something of a misnomer,the idea apparently being to attract settlers to Greenland instead.I'm not as sure about that story as I am about the Is=Ice.
