When people say "if you rant or behave like a jerk towards strangers or most people they might punch you"..... you see these things happen all the time on TV and real life but what i don't understand is that woulden't most people want too avoid having a criminal record and the safest way out would be for them too walkaway from an argument?

i can understand someone lashing out if you attack them first but that is self defense but i wasn't aware that there is a law granting self denfense for verbal assult.

is there some new law staying that if you behave like a dick towards other people they have the right too beat you up? i am confused?

If you act like a jerk, most people just evade it or let you know you're being a jerk. There are people who don't really tolerate it very well tho or are just looking for any excuse to fight who will clock you for the tiniest of things.

But yes it's still assault, tho most people don't report it because they realise they were being a jerk, plus if it's a stranger it's hard to really give a name or anything. Plus i've never known any police force that'd take a punch round the head too serious because that's just how they are, paperwork for nothing sort of thing.

i think the police should be ashamed of themselves for taking such a laid back attitude towards this type of assult. in some cases a punch round the head can cause internal brain bleeding

Do u agree that police are becoming more like thugs themseleves in recent times? You get a lot of surly people in the police force who have a real attitude.

Oh yes definitely, but I think they have to nowadays due to what society has become, If you can't beat them join them sort of thing.

Living in the UK yourself, you must have noticed how kids/teenagers today have adopted this "gangster" lifestyle, where they feel they're above the law.

'Malika Calhoun'.

I've seen this before, the police over there are ALOT worse then we have here.

Over there they really do abuse their powers, I remember seeing a video of an officer tazering a girl about 9 times then another police car turned up which she ran to because she was obviously scared for her life.. Who wouldn't be ??

And he tazered her again... Disgusting

Most people will not punch you, that just usually happens in the movies. Now, depending on what type of crowd you are with you might get punched. Some guys are just violent that way, especially when drunk and especially if you say something really bad to them or get in their face or put your hands on them in any way. Those types of guys usually already have an assault charge or two and don't really mind getting another one because it's just a fine and probation unless it turns into a serious fight or a** whooping.

Saying "Somebody is gonna punch you" is about like saying "She's gonna kill me when she finds out". It's not literal usually.

And yes if you call the cops because you got punched by somebody even if you don't know their name and can just give a vague description and what they had on, a cop will make a report if you insist on one. Sometimes if it's a guy who got punched they really don't want to, but if it's a girl who got hit they usually always do right away without putting up a fuss.

I've hung around with people who would and did just coldcock somebody sometimes for ticking them off, saying the wrong thing, touching them when they told them once already not to do it, etc. You can pretty much spot those people and stay away from them. The most that most people would do is call the police on you if you were showing your a** in public. Some might stay at a distance and taunt you, but most won't physically touch you.
