All members:
Be VERY careful of what ends up in your PM in this site. Sometimes you'll get mail that compliments you and offers friendship. Something that just may sound too good to be true! Beware!! ! Scam artists are very aware of what people in our community want and are more than willing to offer it in exchange for our exploitation. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.

Yeah, I got this one:

Quote:
Hi I am janet,( [email protected])
I saw your profile , and i was deeply moved.I think that you are a very interesting person. So I decided to use the chance to get to know you.i dont think that the age appearance is so important. The most important is what is inside you and how do you feel about the life.I know this life from many sides and I am rather mature already to know how to make a man happy. You can contact me in my private email address ( [email protected] )I think we should use every chance to find our happiness. and I am contacting you for obvious reason which you will understand.i am sending this mail just to know if this profile address is OK,reply me so that i will send my photo and more details to you,and i have a very important thing to tell you, i still hope for your reply,(justinjanet47/AT/yahoo.com)
have a pleasant day,
janet

I'm amazed that Janet was "deeply moved" by my profile. The only thing that my profile says is that I'm a 24-year-old male Aucklander with Asperger's syndrome who likes "Mathematics, Philosophy, Crosswords". I guess it doesn't take much to deeply move some people. :)

Lol I too often wonder what they thought was so special about a profile with little detail on it. XD

I got the same PM. I left it and was unsure whether to report it. (can we even do that?)

I got a similar PM. It was kind of creepy actually. It was from a guy who wanted to add me to Facebook. He kept going on about how we were meant to be together and God planned this all out. Yes...very creepy.

Step 1: Write or tape the word "GULLIBLE" to the ceiling.
Step 2: Tell everyone, "hey look, gullible is on the ceiling."
Step 3: ???
Step 4: PROFIT

Wait just a second! Are you trying to tell me that the Nigerian prince I just gave my bank account info to was trying to scam me? That's nonsense, he just needs a couple thousand dollars to reclaim his kingdom, then he's going to pay me back 10-fold in a few days...you wait and see!

Those PMs are sent by automated bots. They have never looked at anyone's profile. The same message is sent to hundreds of WP accounts. Best to report the entire PM in the moderator attention thread including the member name of the bot. Waste of time replying to their PMs, it won't be read by the robot. They aim to get you into swapping emails with scammers. "I love your profile... blah, blah, blah, ... can you send me some money I need an urgent operation  "

Never respond to the bots, that gets a human being involved who will pretend to be interested in you and eventually will try to scam you for money.

Why oh why can't these worthless pustules just go out and get jobs?!?

Why oh why must they take up air and space and water on my planet?

And on WrongPlanet, as well!

Can no one teleport/transport them off-world?

Sylkat :?
