I can burp loud enough that people in the other room can hear right now if I wanted to.

Are you part bird? how can you not burp?

It's really weird/funny, but I have that problem too. Growing up, I never burped. I was often in pain from the gas just being stuck in me. I've never mentioned it to a doctor though. I assume that I did burp as a baby, because my parents never mentioned me not being able to burp as a baby. I guess somewhere along the line, I never learned how to burp myself.

In the past 3 years or so, I've been able to burp sometimes. Sometimes it just gets stuck in a kind of hiccup.

I'll occasionally burp involuntarily, but I can't force myself to burp. I never figured out how to do it.

This is yet another "you mean I'm not the only one???" moment for me here at Wrong Planet. :P

I wish I had that problem but wouldn't you always feel really bloated or would your gas just only come out the other end?

My kid can carry on a conversation while burping. It's both gross & amazing.

I drink gallons of soda daily so it comes with the territory. Unfortunately, sometimes the bottling plant must use unfiltered water or something...

I can't burp voluntarily. Can people fart voluntarily?

OYG - I've never being able to burp. Like some one mentioned the bloatedness does occur but what I've rather recently discovered is that I can use my toothbrush and use it to try and stimulate my gag reflex which I practically have a none existing one. Well when I do that and I am feeling bloated I burp but otherwise I go around bloated. I learnt from a very early age not to drink any kind of soda.
Continueing on the issue has anyone else got a reaaaally numbed gag reflex?

No. Can't vomit either.

Surgery for morbid reflux a long time ago.

(Don't know how it's related to ASDs, but that's ok.)

Does this mean that you can neither burp nor vomit due to the surgery or what.

Yes. Can do neither.

Not all that bad a side-effect in comparison to what it fixed though.
