I got some nice footage on my Youtube channel. Captured this storm a few days ago.

Skip to the 5:00 mark for the exciting part. The best thunder is at the very end... EXTREMELY loud. I actually missed a couple others that were almost directly overhead because I ran inside and hid after the first one scared the crap out of me. lol

I also got some other footage of a more distant storm a month back. It was billowing up so quickly you could literally watch it growing. Past the 4:00 mark is a short time-lapse and slow-motion of the lighting. It was the coolest thing to witness.

Another day where I chased some storms that had rotation and tornado potential.

Got some other thunderstorms from last year also on my channel.

Well if we ever got thunderstorms we'd be halfway there...

Sorry. :( I lived in Seattle for a few years and there are even less thunderstorms there than in the UK.

I've watched the first video that you've posted yesterday. It's very well done. :)

Nice storm. Keeping the wind and rain off the camera is a pain. Nighttime storms usually have less wind as they approach.

It's unusual for the sun to be shining underneath a thunderstorm like that. It has to happen at just the right time of day with the storm in the right location relative to the sun and the rain shaft being "thin" enough so that the light can penetrate through it.

Great recordings. I like watching thunderstorms, but only when I'm somewhere safe inside. I could not bring myself outside to record it.

I was actually standing in the doorway to my back balcony when that really close one hits at 8:13 in the video. There was not just one but three really close lightning strikes within a minute or two (I only recorded the first one). Probably safer to not even stand near the window when the lightning gets that close. I might just set up the camera on a tripod on the porch and let it record while I watch from further back next time it gets that close.

I got some new videos!

On this one check out the wind gust coming in off the lake around 30 seconds. Then I got a little peak at the start of the partial eclipse (this was taken on Sunday May 20)

Same day with natural thunder sounds...

A week ago. Storm with nice gentle rumblings.

Enjoy! :)

I tried to record thunderstorms, but I realized that I want to just observe them, recording distracts me.

Nice to meet other storm-addict here :P

Recording is kind of stressful as you're always trying to get the best view and its frustrating when you miss something because you were facing the wrong direction, or the camera suddenly runs out of battery power, or you start getting blown at with wind and rained on threatening to get the camera wet and ruined. I like having video to help me reminisce during long t-storm droughts though.

My sister and I recorded a thunderstorm in a blank cassette tape once, when we were kids.
